Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
What happens to my enrollment status in the District if my status with the State Bar of California is "inactive" or "resigned"?

Answer:
Upon being notified by the California State Bar that an attorney has been placed on "inactive" status or has resigned for reasons not related to discipline, this court will reciprocally change its attorney admission records to reflect the same status. Attorneys with a status of "inactive" or "resigned" are not eligible to practice in this court. Attorneys placed on inactive status, not related to discipline, will remain inactive on the rolls of this court until such time as the California State Bar or the attorney notifies the court that the attorney has resumed "active" status. Resigned attorneys who wish to be readmitted must re-petition the court to be reinstated.
